General questions
SSR key points
Certificate

  • SSR technology employs reinforced side walls that support the vehicle in the event of air-pressure loss. This ensures that the side walls of the flat tyre are not crushed between the road and the wheel rim.
  • In the event of full pressure loss, limited mobility (no sudden driving manoeuvre) is still possible at a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour for up to a distance of 50 miles. The run flat distance will be influenced by driving style, speed, type of road, weather conditions, tyre condition and vehicle load.
  • SSR tyres may only be fitted on vehicles for which they are approved by the vehicle manufacturer and that are equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system.
  • Dealers have to be trained and certified by Continental to ensure proper fitting/removal of SSR tyres.
  • Continental SSR tyres can be fitted on all standard wheel rims (at least H2).
