The indirect-measuring tyre pressure monitoring system is also referred to as a "Deflation Detection System (DDS)". The DDS uses the data from the ABS speed sensors and recognises the various rolling circumferences. Monitoring, reporting and the display of air-pressure loss are controlled by software. DDS does not require additional sensors. There is thus no danger of damaging sensors during demounting/mounting of the tyres. Vehicle manufacturers integrate DDS when designing the system.
